The majority of all experts worldwide agree that the ecological problems can only be solved if the economic, social and political systems are extensively reformed considering available and future technologies. Undisputable is also the fact that education is one of the most important preconditions for change.
Admission to excellent education, especially in the area of sustainability, is normally accessible only to a small minority and offered as residential programs. Educatis Foundation will close the gap with this innovative project, which has the following main characteristics:
- It is the most democratic educational project worldwide: every person from any country can become a co-founder and a member of the parliament, which is responsible for the long-term development of the foundation and its universities.
- The universities shall be self-sustaining medium term, i.e. the income from reasonable program fees must cover the expenses. Profits are re-invested into the growth of the university and its global network.
- Educatis University offers worldwide and in several languages premium distant learning programs to the working population or individuals living in remote areas thus depend on part-time study programs.
Make it easy for people to learn
Educatis Foundation seeks to develop the existing university into the first, true global, multilingual educational institution with an important focus on sustainability and responsibility by which a great number of students worldwide obtain access to excellent education.
Since 2003, Educatis University is accredited by the Canton Uri in Switzerland and holds the right of awarding academic titles. Educatis University distinguishes itself from other institutions explicitly by its multilingual and global offer of high-level distant learning programs including a residential program block developed by professors in their mother tongue. Due to the optimal use of the internet tuition fees are low.
The University focuses its research comprehensively on the problems related with economic, social and ecological sustainability. The goal of its global think tank is to offer meaningful solutions.
The Swiss Educatis Foundation needs however support from third parties to implement the vision of a global, multilingual and research-based University.

Implementing the following steps will lead to the global Educatis University in the next few years: - Expanding the presence of Educatis University Switzerland, especially also to emerging and developing countries, with own representative offices and with co-operations.
- Intensifying the collaboration between Educatis University Switzerland and universities worldwide.
- Foundation of a university in Germany, which is one of the most important educational and research market in the European Union.
- Establishment, in a second step, of a university in the USA to expand and deepen the international educational and research focus.
Total funding requirements for the development of the global structures of Educatis University in Europe, the USA and in developing countries amount to about CHF 24m (€ 20/USD 27m).
The funds will exclusively be invested to achieve the above mentioned goals. The founding members will not only receive the budgets but also a monthly report of the development of the project.
